A The standard connector used in airsoft guns (along with RC cars) is called a Tamyia connector. It comes in two sizes, mini and large. The smaller mini batteries use mini connectors and large batteries use large connectors. Refer to the Dimitri's post for the physical size difference between the connectors. The type of connector you actually use isn't too important, providing you've got an adapter from one to another. eg. you can happily use a mini battery in a gun which takes a large battery with a mini to large adapter, or vice versa. This of course means that you don't need a different battery charger for each size of battery you've got.
